Senior Financial Analyst

This position supports all financial aspects relating to marketing efforts at Checkers/Rally’s, working closely with senior marketing and finance leadership to evaluate, analyze, report, and draw insights on all aspects of marketing tests, promotions, coupons, etc.



  • Analyzes marketing strategies
    • Marketing tests, promotions
      • Partners with marketing team to offer financial perspective on all marketing activity, helping to guide the organization to the most optimal decisions.  Includes impacts to both sales and food cost.
      • Performs “test and learn” analysis (change in test group vs. the control group, post-period vs. the pre-period) to understand incremental impacts of activity to sales and/or margin.
      • Provides proactive and timely Excel or dashboard-related analysis on all key metrics with a focus on results, insights and observations.  
      • Works collaboratively with the cross-fuctional team to anlayze impacts of all initiatives.  Creates schedules and slides to demonstrate findings.
      • Summarizes results of all activity to company leadership team, drawing insights and recommendations as appropriate.
    • Coupon/Pricing activity
      • Works closely with the marketing team, recommends markets and timing to achieve desired goals.
      • Tracks and reports coupon redemption/impact from price changes at the restaurant level.
      • Reports weekly results against goals, highlighting variances and rationale/insights.
    • Special initiatives
      • Partners with marketing to understand performance of new and/or evolving initiatives like Delivery, Order Ahead, and enhanced media strategies.
  • Partners with Manager of Marketing Analytics to create and maintain Annual Sales and Annual Food Cost Plans and Reforecasts. 
    • Teams with Marketing to creates sales forecast of all primary messages, secondary messages, growth layers, and other activity by event.  Projects sales mix by product by event. 
    • Highlights periods with challenging comps versus plan and makes appropriate recommendations to solve.  Such events include weather, holidays, prior-year activity, etc..
    • Collaborates with Supply Chain to undrestand impacts of commodities to create food cost forecast. 
    • Create schedules and dashboards around performance vs. plan, forecast, and prior year for executive discussions, marketing meetings, period-end decks, and Board presentations.
  • Updates leadership daily/weekly on sales results.  Understands weather, macroeconomic, mix, and other year-over-year impacts on sales comp.  Will document insights through Tableau dashboards, Excel schedules, and Powerpoint slides.




  • Partners with field marketing team to provide Franchisee support as necessary.
  • Serves as back-up for Manager, Marketing Analytics and the Field Finance Senior Analyst as necessary.
  • Serves on cross-functional projects/teams as needed
  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned.




Required Qualifications

  • High-level analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think independently, take corrective action, and to resolve inquiries and requests for information. 
  • Strong technical capabilities.  Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, and Microsoft PowerPoint. 
  • Experience/proficiency with SQL databases. 
  • Experience with PowerBI, Tableau, or other visualization tools a plus.
  • Understands “test and learn” mentality.  Familiarity with APT tool a plus. 
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to engage others and establish rapport.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to effectively communicate and build relationships with all levels within the organization, and with guests, franchisees, and suppliers.
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to handle multiple priorities, meet demanding deadlines, adjust to sudden changes in workflow, and maintain high quality standards.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from leaders and peers.
  • Ability to establish and maintain robust processes relied upon by senior management.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and propose creative solutions.
  • Ability to maintain all job-related information in a confidential and private manner.



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business, or analytical field (Mathematics, Statistics, etc.).  MBA preferred.


  • Minimum of 2-3 years of related experience. 
  • Experience in QSR, Restaurant, or Retail industries preferred.
  • Highly proficient in Excel and Microsoft Office suite.


Essential Physical Requirements

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret written information such as procedure manuals, Company communications or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to Travel may be required to attend off-site training, meetings and seminars.
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods in one location which may be restricted to the employee’s workstation.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
