Network Engineer

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Network Engineer (NE) is responsible for the effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of network hardware, software, applications, security, and related systems. This individual participates in technical research, architecture, design, and development to enable continuing innovation within the network infrastructure.  This individual will assist the IT Infrastructure Manager and project teams with technical issues in the Initiation, Design, and Planning phases of our ongoing and future projects.

  3. Manage, monitor and maintain all aspects of the enterprise data communications and telecommunications infrastructure across all sites
  4. Designing and implementing new network solutions and/or improving the efficiency of current networks
  5. Install, configure and support network equipment to include:  Firewalls, routing, switching, voice, and wireless to maximize network efficiency and security
  6. Defines, documents, and enforces network standards
  7. Secures network by establishing and enforcing policies and defining and monitoring access
  8. Work closely with departmental management to research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated solutions related to the networking infrastructure and security
  9. Act as Tier-3 support when needed

Education

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A. or B.S.) in Business, Computer Science, or  Information Technology, from four-year college or university preferred
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification or above preferred
  • Certified Wifi Network Administrator (CWNA) certification or above preferred

 

Experience

  • Knowledge and experience with enterprise networks, VoIP, SIP, DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP routing and routing protocols such as OSPF and BGP, NAT, PAT, IPSEC and SSLVPN technologies, GRE tunneling, route redistribution, traffic shaping, port-level filtering, SD-WAN, MPLS and other communications related technologies
  • Advanced understanding of LAN/WAN concepts
  • Aruba Access Points, Fortinet Firewalls, Network Monitoring Tools such as What’s Up Gold (WUG)
  • Cisco Switching environment (VLANS, STP, VTP)
  • Virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V
  • Design and support of Voice-Over-IP and Wireless
  • Create and maintain IPSEC and SSL VPN Tunnels, Remote Access
  • Cloud technologies such as AZURE, AWS
  • Knowledge of Windows Active Directory, TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, Group Policy, and other fundamental Windows and Network technologies
  • Preferred working knowledge of retail/restaurant measures as well as general business concepts preferred
  • Good project leadership or team-lead skills
  • Knowledge of  PCI, SAS70 and other governing bodies, regarding their associated configuration requirements and best practices

 

Essential Physical Requirements

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, and technical procedures
  • Ability to frequently use hands to finger, handle or feel
  • Ability to Travel may be required to attend off-site training, meetings and seminars
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods in one location which may be restricted to the employee’s workstation
