Data Science Analyst

The Data Science Analyst works directly with the Senior Insights Manager to support the analysis function for all Marketing initiatives, including digital and database analytics, social media dashboard monitoring, data analysis of sales, traffic, and menu mix data, and analysis of owned and earned media channel data. This role is data-intensive and could involve use of SQL to pull data for analysis and reporting purposes. The role requires a well-developed business acumen and the ability to ask the required questions.

This individual provides support in the mining and analysis of several key data sources including the Customer Data Platform (CDP) and owned media channels to inform business initiatives and decisions. This individual will assist in building ad hoc and ongoing reporting for leadership from this data. To succeed in this role, this individual is detail-oriented, has outstanding analytical skills, and has the ability to tackle multiple research tasks at once with the larger goal of positively impacting consumer/financial performance for the brand.



  • Design and develop large customer and business analyses that answer key business questions
  • Translate business questions into specific data and reporting requirements
  • Analyze the data to uncover key insights, create visualizations, craft a coherent story, and present findings
  • Play a primary role in all Customer Data Platform (CDP) insights and ad hoc and ongoing reporting, including but not limited to: acquisition strategy monitoring, customer value identification, assistance with segmentation
  • Perform quantitative research and analyses on various types of data such as sales, P&L, product mix, discounting, operational KPIs, CDP, loyalty program data, passive mobile app behavioral data, ecommerce order data, and social media feedback and engagement data
  • Integrate multiple sources of sales and consumer data to provide summaries and insights to management on a regular basis
  • Facilitate ongoing improvements to reporting processes and infrastructure
  • Proactively mine CDP and owned media channel databases and dashboards for insights and supply to team as needed
  • Partner with Consumer Insights Analyst to integrate findings from competitive intelligence, brand tracking, concept testing, customer satisfaction, or other sources into reporting as needed
  • Work cross-functionally in sharing data and insights from relevant sources with FP&A, Business Intelligence, Operations, and IT
  • Provide primary support for daily ad hoc requests and other duties as assigned



  • BA/BS in applicable field, MBA/MA/MS a plus (Business, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Psychology/Sociology, Marketing, etc.)
  • 4-6 years of recent experience in a business analyst or data analyst role
  • Experience with restaurant industry financial analysis, consumer research, or marketing a plus
  • Programming skills in SQL required
  • Strong MS Power BI required
  • Strong Excel and Power Point skills required
  • Experience developing compelling data visualizations, dashboards and reporting
  • Experience mining and analyzing dashboard-based reporting using Tableau, R, or Python a strong plus
  • Experience with Microstrategy/APT a strong plus
  • Experience managing multi-faceted analytics projects and synthesizing and presenting actionable insights from a variety of data-points and analyses
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making ability
