Position Summary
The Franchise Business Consultant (FBC) is accountable for driving enterprise performance across an assigned portfolio of franchised restaurants. This role operates as a strategic business leader, aligning franchisee actions with company priorities to deliver measurable improvements in sales, profitability, and operational execution.
The FBC leads through influence, using data, structured business planning, and candid conversations to challenge performance, change behavior, and ensure disciplined execution. Success in this role is defined by the ability to translate strategy into results and consistently raise the performance bar across the system.
Candidates for this role should be based near a major airport in the Louisville, KY or Nashville, TN area.
Position Accountabilities
Drive Enterprise Performance
- Own performance outcomes across the assigned market, including sales growth, profitability, and operational standards
- Ensure franchisee actions align with enterprise priorities, not just individual business preferences
- Identify systemic risks and opportunities early and take decisive action to protect and grow the business
- Partner cross-functionally to remove barriers and accelerate results across the system
Lead Through Influence
- Drive fact-based, direct conversations that challenge assumptions and reset expectations where needed
- Influence decision-making without authority; hold franchisees accountable to commitments and standards
- Address underperformance with urgency and clarity—no deferral of difficult conversations
- Establish credibility through strong business acumen and consistent follow-through
Own the Business Planning Process
- Lead structured annual and quarterly business planning with clear linkage to enterprise goals
- Translate insights into focused, executable plans with defined milestones and outcomes
- Ensure plans are not static—continuously adjusted based on performance and changing conditions
- Hold franchisees accountable for execution against commitments and the franchise agreement
Drive Financial Results
- Diagnose performance using P&L, balance sheets, sales trends, and operational data to identify root causes
- Drive actions that improve margins, cash flow, and return on invested capital
- Ensure capital decisions (remodels, new units, closures) are grounded in ROI and long-term value creation
Enforce Operational Discipline
- Ensure consistent execution of brand standards and operating requirements
- Connect operational performance directly to financial outcomes and guest impact
- Eliminate gaps in execution quickly and sustainably
Execute and Scale Initiatives
- Ensure enterprise initiatives are understood, prioritized, and executed at a high level
- Drive consistency across the system—reduce variability in execution
- Reinforce focus on the initiatives that materially impact performance
Manage Risk and Protect the Brand
- Take decisive action on non-compliance and sustained underperformance
- Utilize performance improvement plans and, when necessary, enforce franchise agreement terms
- Protect brand standards and long-term health system over short-term accommodations
Employment Standards
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Hospitality, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Experience
- 5+ years of multi-unit leadership experience in QSR, retail, or franchised environments
- Proven track record of driving measurable business results across multiple locations
- Strong financial acumen with deep understanding of P&L drivers and ROI-based decision making
- Demonstrated ability to influence, challenge, and lead without direct authority
- Comfortable operating in ambiguity and making decisions with speed and conviction
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
Essential Physical Requirements
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret written information such as procedure manuals, Company communications or governmental regulations.
- Ability to Travel may be required to attend off-site training, meetings, and seminars.
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods in one location which may be restricted to the employee’s workstation.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
